The FACTS Workbook

High performers use FACTS to change their lives. It is a simple five-part path: get clear on the future you want, decide what has to change, make space for it, plan your first three steps, and build in how you will keep going when it gets tough.

Your capacity for success is an elastic band

Your life goals say where you are heading. What decides whether you get there is what you do every day. An elastic band only takes so much stretch, and the stretch can go either way: backward, through habits that pull you away from what you want, or forward, through the ones that move you towards it.

To perform at a high level you need to know how a high performer thinks and acts, then do the same. That starts with getting clear on what high performance means for you. This workbook walks you through it, one honest page at a time.

Your route through the workbook

Five parts, one clear path

Work through them in order. Each page tells you what to write and gives you the space to write it.

F

Focus

What future do you want?

Get clear on the life and the results you are pulling towards. Write your goals as if they have already happened, and sort what you want from what you do not with the Four Boxes.

A

Attention

Why and how do you need to change?

Your capacity works like an elastic band. Name the habits pulling you backward and the ones that move you forward, so your energy goes where it counts.

C

Commitment

How will you make space for the change?

Set the rules you live by and the principles for how you show up. Written down, they stop being good intentions and become something you can hold yourself to.

T

Three-step planning

What are your first three steps?

Pick the one goal that matters most now and turn it into three specific steps: what you will do, by when, and what done looks like. Small and specific beats big and vague.

S

Sticking with it

How will you handle the hurdles?

Times get tough. Name the hurdle you expect and write the line you will reach for in the moment, so a hard week does not cost you your standards.

Two ways to work through it

The full workbook is the complete journey. The three short sections let you do it in focused bursts.
