For me, purpose and authenticity are intertwined. Finding my own personal purpose was a journey of self-discovery that allowed me to step into a new level of authenticity that I had been seeking for years.

I believe that each of us has a light or energy inside us, and the universe is made up of energy. For things to be easy, authentic, and on purpose, that energy needs to flow freely. To be seen as authentic, your light needs to shine bright and not be obscured or covered up.

About the author

Jimmy Burroughes is a former British Army Officer and corporate GM who has coached 3,000+ leaders. His work focuses on practical behaviour change that improves execution—clearer decisions, fewer escalations, less operational noise, and stronger ownership across teams.

He suffered burnout in 2017 that resulted in him leaving a job, a relationship and his home. Since then he has immersed himself in understanding how burnout and high-performance are related and how to prevent one whilst accessing the other.
